Autumn Scavenger Hunt

بسم الله الرحمان الريم
A dear sister of mine reminded me of the Autumn Scavenger Hunt we did last year with our weekly Islamic Home School Playgroup while we were still in the UK. It was so much fun but subhan'Allaah I completely forgot to share it on here.

This activity is really nice to do with a large group of children. We went to a local park, spread out and collected all or most of the items mentioned on the worksheet. During the hunt we talked about how Allaah created all these beautiful things, looked at the fascinating details of it and discussed how He brings life and death. Afterwards we sat down at the playground, had a picnic and the children showed each other what they found.

Aqeedah Lessons for Small Children

بسم الله الرحمان الريم
Today I want to share these very beneficial Aqeedah Lessons for Small Children by Abul-Abbaas Moosa Richardson. There are 6 lessons which cover the following topics:

Lesson 1: Who is Allaah?
Lesson 2: Allaah Gives Us Food Every Day
Lesson 3: There is No One Like Allaah
Lesson 4: Allaah Sees Us and Hears Us Wherever We Are
Lesson 5: Allaah Heals Us When We Are Sick
Lesson 6: The Questioning in the Grave
In each lesson the Ustaadh discusses the topic with a small group of children and teaches them the correct aqeedah concerning them. Each lesson takes about 10 minutes, which is just enough to keep children interested and involved. I recommend to do a small review when they've finished listening in shaa'Allaah. My children love listening to these lessons, either individually or together.
To listen and/or download, click here in shaa'Allaah. Have fun!
Tip: I bought "very cool looking" headphones for my children which they use when listening individually to these lessons (or Qur'aan). It keeps them concentrated longer and are less easily distracted Alhamdulillaah.

Eeny Meeny Miny Reminder - Teaching the child Kalimatut-Tawheed

From the book “Taribeeyatul-Awlaad fee Dhaw’il-Kitaab was Sunnah” (Educating the Children in the Light of the Book (Qur’aan) and the Sunnah), introduced by Ash-Shaykh, Al-Aalim, Ar-Rabbaaniyy (the educator) Saalih inb Fawzaan Al-Fawzaan (May Allah preserve him upon good) and prepared by Abdus-Salaam Ibn Abdillah Sulaymaan (May Allah preserve him upon good).

Point 12: Teaching the child the Statement of At-Tawheed (Tawheed is to single out Allah alone, in all acts of worship).

So the first of what the child begins with in speech, obligatory upon al-waalidayn (the father and mother), is teaching him Kalimatut-Tawheed, and to instruct to it. Ibn Abbaas (May Allah be pleased with his father and him) narrates that An-Nabiyy (the Prophet) (Allah’s peace and blessings upon him) said: ((Establish upon your children the first statement, Laa Ilaaha Illallah and instruct them at the time of death Laa Ilaaha Illallah)).

We're......almost back!

بسم الله الرحمان الريم
Ok....so, first my sincere apologies for not posting for the last few months. But, we're back....or well... almost. Alhamdulillaah, Allaah has blessed us with the opportunity to perform hijrah for His sake and eventhough we've encountered many trials and hardships over the last few months, we feel truly blessed to reside in an Islamic country now. May He purify our intentions and accept this from us as an act solely done for His sake....Ameen!

I think the importance of making hijrah is often underestimated or one is simply not familiar with its rulings and obligations. I would like share some statements from our scholars concerning hijrah and I highly recommend to research and investigate the importance of hijrah if you haven't done so already insha'Allaah.

Hijrah and Residing in the Lands of Disbelieve - by Shaykh al-Albaanee
After listening to this clarification on hijrah from our dear Shaykh (rahimahullaah) our desire to perform hijrah grew stronger and we took serious steps towards realising it and alhamdulillaah by the Grace of Allaah we actualised it only a few months later.

Click here for more information on hijrah insha'Allaah

So, like I said we're ALMOST back...just bear with me for a little bit more, while we get settled and organised over here. Jazaakum Allaahu khayran!

Eeny Meeny Miny Reminder - Showing Mercy Towards Children

بسم الله الرحمان الريم

Showing Mercy Towards Children is a Means of Achieving the Mercy of Allah

Excerpt from Umm 'Abdillah Al-Waadi'iyyah's
"My Advice to the Women"

Aboo Hurayrah narrated that the Messenger of Allah, salallahu 'alaihi wa salam, kissed Al-Hasan while Al-Aqra ibn Haabis at-Tameemee was sitting near him.  A-Aqra said, "Indeed I have ten children and I have never kissed any of them."  The Messenger of Allah looked at him and said,  "Whoever does not show mercy will not be shown mercy."  [Saheeh al-Bukhaari, 426/10]

Arabic Letters Handwriting

بسم الله الرحمان الريم
My dear sister Umm An-Nu'man from A Muslim Child is Born posted this really nice Arabic Letters Handwriting Workbook a while ago.

Quote: "This Arabic letters handwriting workbook provides children with the opportunity to shape each letter with play-doh, recognize each letter as it appears in isolation, in the middle of a word and at the end of a word. Children also practice writing each letter in each of the three above-mentioned forms. When done, children are given the opportunity to locate and identify each letter in actual words, helping to support letter recognition insha'Allaah."

We absolutely love this resource and use it all the time. If you are not familiar with her blog make sure to check it out, she has got looooooads of wonderful resources maa shaa' Allaah.

Hop over to AMCIB to download your version insha'Allaah! Available in English, Dutch and French!

Eeny Meeny Miny Reminder - You Will be Accountable O Parents and Teachers

بسم الله الرحمان الريم
You Will be Accountable O Parents and Teachers!

by Shaykh Muhammad Ibn Jameel Zaynoo

"PIVOTAL QUOTE"
So you must first of all reform yourselves, since good results form the good that you do, and bad results from the bad that you do. So good conduct from teachers and parents in front of the children is the best form of education and upbringing for them.

"O you who believe! Save yourselves and your families from the Hellfire." [Sooratut-Tahreem 66:6]

Mothers, fathers, teachers, and the society as a whole, will all be accountable in front of Allaah about the tarbiyyah (education and upbringing) of this generation. If its tarbiyyah is good, then there will be happiness - both in this world and the Hereafter. If it is not, then there will be misery, and it will be a rope around your necks - since there occurs in the hadeeth: "Each of you is a shepherd, and each of you will be questioned about those who you are responsible for."{1}

But - O teachers - rejoice in the saying of the Prophet (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam), who said: "By Allaah! That Allaah guides through you even a single person, is better for you than the most precious of camels." {2}

And - O parents - rejoice in the authentic hadeeth: "When a person dies, his actions are terminated except for three; a recurring charity, or knowledge that he leaves which is benefitted from, or a pious offspring who supplicates for him." {3}

So you must first of all reform yourselves, since good results from the good that you do, and bad results from the bad that you do.

So good conduct from teachters and parents in front of the children is the best form of education and upbringing for them. {4}
